GIPA’s Global Connect Series Spotlights Women’s Leadership in Indonesian Industries
Jakarta, Indonesia – On Saturday (24th June 2023), Global Indonesia Professionals’ Association (GIPA) and PT. Samuel Sekuritas Indonesia collaborated to host a fireside chat discussing the role of women within Indonesia’s various industries. The event included several notable names such as Shinta Kamdani,CEO of Sintesa Group; Nina Wirahadikusumah, Business Strategy Director at Microsoft; Gita Sjahrir, the Special Advisor to Indonesia’sCoordinating Ministry ofMaritime and Investment Affairs and Tedi Bharata, the Deputy Minister of Kementerian BUMN. Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, a Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave the opening remarks.
This event is the second installment of GIPA’s Global Connect Series, which aims to empower returning overseas professionals by offering them the resources that would help them acclimate to the Indonesian workforce. This highly anticipated event brought together a diverse range of inspiring women, industry leaders, and changemakers from around the world. Through interactive panel discussions, keynote speeches, and workshops, attendees were offered the opportunity to directly learn and network with accomplished professionals and gain valuable insights on how they can thrive in the modern workplace. Around 100 managerial-level professionals and executives from an array of Indonesian companies attended the event.
The event addresses key topics such as the payment gap in Indonesia, company policies that support career women with families, and women’s participation in positions of leadership.

“We have been doing research and samples from many professional women in the industry and have found some common occurrences that limit women’s advancement in the professional [scene]. We are working on that and are currently working on improving women’s participation in the Indonesian State-owned Enterprise Board of Directors,” state Tedi Bharata from the Ministry of State-owned Enterprise.
In an effort to continue promoting the Global Connect Series, GIPA aims to bring more events that will strengthen the development of Indonesia’s diaspora community.
