Global Human Capital Summit Shapes Future Talents for a Resilient and Innovative ASEAN during Indonesia’s ASEAN 2023 Chairmanship
Jakarta, Indonesia (August 22, 2023) – In alignment with Indonesia’s role as the host of this year’s ASEAN Chairmanship, the Global Indonesia Professionals’ Association (GIPA) organized its second annual Global Human Capital Summit, centered around the theme
“Shaping Talents of the Future for a Resilient and Innovative ASEAN.”
Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, the summit stands as a platform to address the most pertinent concerns within an increasingly digitized workforce, while concurrently nurturing the advancement of Indonesian expertise across the green, health, and technology sectors. With an attendance of over 800 global business leaders, government officials, and thought leaders from Indonesia’s overseas professional hubs, this event cemented its significance as a place for insightful dialogue and collaboration.
Held at The Westin Hotel, the summit was inaugurated by a warm virtual message from Dr. Kao Kim Hourn (Secretary General of ASEAN) and in-person remarks by Mr. Dharsono Hartono (Chairman of KADIN Indonesia Net Zero Hub), and Ambassador Siti Mauludiah (Senior Advisor to the Foreign Minister), Mr. Steven Marcelino (GIPA’s Chairman) and Mr. Hilmi Kartasasmita, (GIPA’s Head of Indonesia). They graced the event with their welcoming addresses, imparting their insights into the trajectory of Indonesia and ASEAN collective advancement.
Structured across four distinct segments, namely the Green, Public Sector, Health, and Digital & Finance segments. These segments include notable speakers such as Ilham Habibie (co-founder of Habibie Innovation Incubators) on the Green segment, Dwi Larso (Director of LPDP) on the Public Sector segment, Prof. Dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono (Vice Minister of Health, Republic of Indonesia) on the Health Segment, and lastly Shinta Kamdani (Chairwoman of APINDO group) on Digital & Finance segment.
GIPA also simultaneously hosted a parallel segment within the Denpasar Room of the venue, which fostered a smaller and more intimate discussion on specific industry topics namely global investment trends in collaboration with Henley & Partners, innovation ecosystem in collaboration with Habibie Innovation Incubator (HII), ASEAN’s workforce of the future in collaboration with Indonesia Youth Diplomacy (IYD), and women in industry with speakers from Britcham Indonesia among others.
In a testament to the summit’s inclusivity and global resonance, the proceedings were also made available to the public via YouTube live streaming. At the heart of this event lies an assembly of visionaries and luminaries who share a resolute conviction in augmenting human capital investment within Indonesia, all while accentuating the profound influence of a more refined workforce on national development. Following the warm reception of the summit, GIPA is set to engage in further in-depth consultations with senior government officials to proffer insights into Indonesia’s Diaspora Strategy in the subsequent day in a conference private from the public
